I think Mos was drunk when he was recorded on the first video… at the end he spat some lines from “The Ruler’s Back” the Jay version haha. Mos is dope and i wouldnt’ve ever thought he’d be the one talking about something as frivolous as this, if Jay wasn’t considered to be the greatest people would not say it, plain and simple Jay is that guy. I’m 19 yrs old and i consider myself to be a connoisseur of this art, AND THERE IS NOT ONE WAY SLICK RICK IS BETTER THAN JAY-Z. Pac, BIG, JAY, NAS, SCARFACE, MOS, and etc. are supposed to be better than older rappers, because they’ve had a chance to listen and make growth. With that said, the best rapper ever at the current juncture is Tupac Shakur. Name one guy other than Elvis who has people still wanting him to be a live, even though it’s clear as day he has passed. Pac outsells present day artist with posthumous releases. Just because someone or something is older does not make it better. This argument should be judged on merit and impact. Nobody out there is looking fora Slick Rick come back they didn’t look for it when he came out of jail either, plus the verse he had on Auditorium was WACK, stuttering and what not. Right now WALE is the best rapper. The guy’s got cadence, a new out look to portray, the drive to keeping homing his craft, and HE HAS SOMETHING TO SAY. The end.
