After much anticipation, the first single from Kendrick Lamar’s debut album (tentatively titled ‘Good Kid in A Mad City’) was released this morning featuring the legendary, Dr. Dre with production from Scoop DeVille. I’m glad they didn’t go with a ‘banger’ or radio jingle as their first release.. This sounds just like the Kendrick we all know and fell for. Expect “The Recipe” to be available on iTunes later tonight. Sidebar: “The Recipe” samples Twin Sister’s “Meet The Frownies.”
The first ever Rocawear commercial is a retrospective of Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s journey as a kid growing up in the humble projects of Brooklyn aspiring to make music and eventually making history. On that journey, the first business beyond music was the birth of Rocawear. Carter’s Rocawear brand represents his prowess as a business man who continues to challenge himself to be more than merely a musician.
Drake hits London for the O2 event that follows his Club Paradise Tour. He talks with Tim about a slew of topics, such as The Motto, when he uses YOLO, Rihanna, growing in his music, the Marvin’s Room lawsuit, his tattoos (didn’t know he had any), plus a whole lot more. He also gives Timmy a pretty good freestyle. There’s more after the jump. Enjoy!

Things are “Looking Up” for Atlanta based artist ev4n holt, with a follow-up to his Mobb Deep rendition for “Streets Keep Callin.” This cut will be featured on ev4n’s upcoming self titled mixtape.
Says the homie Jabari, “I linked up with 2 Chainz right before he brought out Kanye West and Big Sean at his SXSW show. Watch as he talks about surprises in his career, what it means to be TRU, and his upcoming album, Based on a T.R.U. Story”
I’m a pretty big fan of J.NiCS, tried to catch him while he was at SxSw but kept missing each other. J NICS unleashes his collaborative song with Atlanta’s Aleon Craft, titled “Wired Up“. The duo exchange verses about Southern Mentality over an instrumental filled with 808 bass and mean synthesizers. (Produced by Atlanta’s own SMKA) Check it out below!

Sigh.. Everyone who has heard J. Cole’s debut remembers Jermaines line in ‘Grew Up Fast’ – So either Diggy has had this record out or he caught new feelings and re-recorded it since first premiering it a year ago at the XXL showcase concert. Sidebar, J. Cole and Diggy’s older sister Vanessa, went to St. Johns together and ‘Purple Rain’ (which premiered here on herfection) first pushed Diggy to creating this diss. Take a listen below.
